I wanted to take a moment to welcome you all to The Big Black Man Project. Nearly 25 years ago I had the idea to collect the stories of Black men to share with the world. The events of the past few months have made it more clear than ever before how so many of these stories need to be told. They are stories of patriotism, resilience, caring, fear, and hope. They are American stories.
Now, thanks to the encouragement, (that can be read as a swift kick in the rear) of the other 4 founders, "The Project" is coming to life. Our hope is that it will become a place where we can use narrative to bring some peace to Black Men, to heal the wounds of the country, and to share in the experience of the many great Big Black Men that we have had the pleasure of meeting .
Our long term goals are grand. We want to be part blog, a grant making program, and a show on Broadway. We know it sounds ambitious, and we like it that way. In the meantime, as we start sharing stories, please feel free to reach out to us with ideas on other Big Black Men we should be interviewing, speaking with, and sharing with the world.
And of course, any and all assistance is appreciated. The time, talent and treasure of our friends and supporters is always welcome. So, once again, welcome to the Big Black Man Project.
great blogs.
"No cross, no crown". I love it.
Excellent, Chuck
Alright Cousin! This is enlightening as well as encouraging. I was getting excited thinking about the birth of this project. I believe a book should be considered as well. Fantastic! I love my Uncle Charles. He has always held the status of a multipotentialite! A fine legacy indeed.
Great reading can't wait to read more
